ABOUT CHILD STUDY TEAM
State and Federal legislation specifically requires that each local public school district identify and classify all handicapped children between the ages of three and twenty-one and provide an appropriate educational program for them.
A basic Child Study Team shall consist of a School Psychologist, a Learning Disabilities Specialist, and a School Social Worker. The team may also include a Speech-Language Specialist, psychiatrist, and/or a neurologist experienced in working with children, if necessary.
Children may be referred for team study by PAC forms at our schools, members of the professional staff, or by the child’s parents. Diagnosis and classification may include a comprehensive medical examination, psychological evaluation, social case study, and an educational assessment by approved Child Study Team personnel functioning jointly. Classification shall be used to plan appropriate educational programs and an individualized educational plan shall be implemented.
The Upper Deerfield Township School Child Study Team is located in the Elizabeth Moore School. For further information, call 455-2267, ext. 5205.
